Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue Weekly Update 19th - 26th August

It has been busy busy busy for re-homing at HWAR in the last few weeks with lots of dogs being re-homed directly and indirectly through HWAR and this week has been no exception.

Dogs going or have gone out

Roger who came in as a duo with his brother Rags was re-homed this week. We took the decision to split Rags & Roger up as both dogs were seeming happier apart. Two sweet little boys, Roger has gone off to his new home and now Rags is waiting patiently for his furever home.

Little Archie the Chihuahua x that came to us a stray has taken up residency at his foster home! An adorable little character it turned out he and his foster mum were too well matched to part.

Another Archie, the gorgeous Bedlington x Whippet Lurcher who many were fond of, found his home quickly after spending only a few days at HWAR after going into foster and then quickly into a new home.

We are ecstatic this week to say Barney has found a home. He has gone to a wonderful home who have re-homed from HWAR before and having settled in just lovely, he will be a very happy boy now he is out of kennels, have a great life Barney!

The last two puppies of the Husky x GSD litter, Tippy and Blade, have found their new homes this week. Tippy saw her sister go to a new home last week but not long waiting behind and Blade has also been taken on into a new home. A beautiful litter of pups they will be wonderful family dogs.

Also re-homed through re-home from home, was the beautiful Angel a 6yo Collie x Lab and a lovely spaniel called Fergie who is picture-less!

New intakes

Wee little Max the Border Terrier came into HWAR this week, only a baby he is one year old a couple of days ago, sadly little other details. An enthusiastic young boy he is still a complete puppy at heart. Max has already been reserved and will be off to a new home shortly.

Lucky is a wonderful young male Lurcher who has a beautiful temperament, he is desperate for affection, very loving and just wants someone to fuss over him. He is a bit stressed in kennels, can you find room for him?

Originally re-homed by us, Tilly a four year old Staffy x JRT has had to come back due to circumstances changing that are no fault of her own. A darling of girl she is a very sweet little lady who always has a smile on her face.

There are some more dogs due in this week from the pound, you can find updates when they arrive and have settled in by following Facebook & Twitter for the latest updates.

Special Plea

This week we are making a special plea for Shyla, we do not intend to do them all the time but we have had some un-lucky residents of late.

Shyla is a long termer now, approaching her ninth month in kennels at HWAR and has not had a great deal of interest.

A beautiful soul who has blossomed from a shy, nervous dog into an affectionate, cheeky and fun loving girl. Everyone at HWAR loves Shyla and knows what a wonderful dog she is, no-one can praise her enough. She has a particularly strong bond with our kennel manager Annie who was done so well to help bring Shyla on into the more confident and well-rounded dog that she is today.

Shyla is very contented with her life at HWAR but she would make a fantastic loyal companion and is ready and waiting for a chance for a home to call her own.

If you are interested in Shyla, read through her forum page, see what other have to say about her or come out and meet her, she is always ready to play up the play pen. VIDEO

Coming Up

We will have a stall at the Whitecross Fun Day this Sunday which is being held at Westfalling Street Top Park, if you are local to the area come on down and see us as well as take in what the day has on offer.

Past Events

The Herefordshire Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club walk organised by Kelly and Rob Saunders was on the Sunday just passed, the sun shone and lots of people and waggy tails turned out to walk and the day raised a fantastic £138.76 split between HWAR & DDA Watch. Thank you both and everyone who turned out! See some pictures before the walk HERE

The Ledbury Carnival dog show on bank holiday Monday was cancelled due to the bad weather, which is a real shame. Hopefully we will be able to hold an event soon.

Fundraising

Only last week or so we launched an appeal for help refurbishing our tired office before the winter sets in, an amazing £800 has been raised which is above and beyond the call of duty. We are extremely grateful to all the supporters and can not thank you enough for such positive support.

Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue Weekly Update 12th - 19th August

We have had a busy re-homing week since the last update with lots of our lodgers finding their new homes, as well as some recent fundraising events and events to come this weekend.

Dogs going or have gone out

First off to a new home recently was Blue. He was in for bed and breakfast as he came in Wednesday and his new family fell in love instantly and took him off for a new life on Friday.

Freddie the Fox Terrier that came in with Blue on the same day found his new home just as quickly, so quickly in fact we did not have time to get his details up so no picture!

Sweet Daisy has found her forever home after waiting patiently over the last few weeks. She left Meadowbank Sunday and though this sweet soul will be missed we are delighted she has found a home to call her own.

Toby will start his new life this week as he is due to set up home on Thursday. A super little dog he will relish this fresh start away from kennels where he can thrive after what has turned out to be a lengthy stay.

Bertha has been reserved to go to live in what sounds like her dream home, lots of land, others dogs to share it with and even a hydro-pool to splash about in! We cannot hide our delight she has found her ideal home. She will be leaving Meadowbank in the next couple of weeks.

New intakes

A five some of 15 week old Husky x GSD dogs joined us this week and all went straight into foster. Three of the gang, Shiloh, Keeto and Max have already been found new homes but Blade and Tippy are still looking for a family of their own. A beautiful litter with calm and well natured temperaments these puppies will make excellent family companions.

Rags and Roger are back in kennels after it did not work out for them in foster, these handsome boys are ready and waiting for a loving home, are they for you?

Due out of stray kennels this week is a Lurcher and Border terrier. More details will be published when they arrive at Meadowbank, follow Facebook & Twitter for the latest updates.

Re-home from home

Baxter, a stunning pure breed Dalmatian is looking for a new home. His owners change of circumstances mean they cannot give him the time he needs, can you give Baxter a new home?

Dora, a gorgeous 8 month old Welsh Collie is looking for an active home that can keep up with her. Her current owners believe she has all the makings of a good obedience/agility dog she just needs channeling in the right direction.

Special Plea

Barney has been with us since the beginning of May and sadly we have had no interest in him at all.

Rarely have we had a dog who hates kennels as much as poor Barney does, he just cannot bear being shut in, he tears at the walls, he self-harms, we have done everything we can to make him happy but the only time he is truly happy is when he is outside - a different dog. He is calm and relaxed just wants to tootle about or lie across your lap for a cuddle.

Barney met one of our new volunteers recently, he must have reminded him of his owner, he was ecstatic, he could not stop kissing him, the people who witnessed it said he was like a totally different dog so there we have it Barney is missing is Dad.

So we are now looking for that special new Dad for Barney, as a sole companion. Barney does not do other dogs, children etc just needs that special friend. No donation is needed we just want Barney to be happy again.

Barney is desperate for a home

Hereford & Worcester Animal Rescue Weekly Update

There have been lots of dogs in and out this week, especially though we have had a lot of dogs up for re-home from home.

Click on the dogs names to see more about them on their forum page.

Dogs going or have gone out

Ollie went off to his new home on Tuesday, naturally we are pleased to see him off to his new home but his play mate Bertha is still in kennels waiting patiently for a new home.

He was closely followed out the door by the handsome patterdale, Syd. Luckily Syd was not waiting long and he went off to his new home Saturday.

Rosa a beautiful young female collie went out as fast she came in, a real sweet heart her new family fell for her as soon as look at her.

New intakes

Coming in this week we have had the two terrier crossbreeds Rags and Roger. Sweet little fellas who have not had the best start, they have gone into foster whilst they await their forever home.

One of two Archie’s to find his way to kennels is a gorgeous seven month old lurcher (whippet/beddlington) with the sweetest of temperaments. Archie has gone into foster and awaits a permanent home.

Another Archie who has come from the stray kennels, who is also in foster is a wide eyed and adorable looking chihuahua cross.

Some pawfect news

Our gorgeous resident Buddy has been taken into a foster home this week, great news for this beautiful sole who has been waiting in kennels for a while now, hopefully soon he will have a permanent home.

Special plea

Charlie has been with us for some time now and is currently in foster, he is a lovely handsome boy and we can not understand how little interest he has had. Whilst he is happy in foster he would love a home to call his home and he is more than ready now, if you can offer Charlie a home please consider him. Find out more about Charlie on his forum page.
