Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue Update 23rd September 30th September

In what was appearing a relatively quiet week this week we were called to rescue a mother Lurcher and her litter on Sunday. They were in a sad and sorry state when we arrived to take them to HWAR. The mother, frail and weak from looking after her puppies was covered in mange and fleas and her five pups were not too much better and all undernourished. They were taken immediately to the vets and treated for their ailments and brought back to HWAR to recover. They are thankfully now making progress and coming on each day and will have only good times ahead of them from here.

It is deeply saddening to find defenseless animals in such a state as the result of the actions of cruel human beings and even more so in knowing little can be done about it.

For all her clearly bad experiences, Hope, as we have called her, was still so trusting and kindly regardless of her situation, just showing how unconditional these beings are.

Thank you for everyone who has shown support for hope and her litter this weekend and rest assured they are all on the way to recovery and are safe with a better life ahead of them.

Dogs Re-homed

The gorgeous young Nim has gone off to her new home this week. A 12 month old Huskey x Labrador, Nim was handed in a long with her brother Isco recently and was not long waiting for a new home finding herself reserved the same day she arrived. A real character she has a nice new life ahead of her with her new family and will certainly keep her family entertained.

Hereford & Worcester Animal Rescue Update 9th - 23rd September

Just for a change we have had a relatively quiet time of homing the last couple of weeks. We have been really busy in the last couple of months with dogs coming in and out and lots of interest in re-homing so it is only a good thing when there are less to come in from the stray pound.

Dogs Re-homed

Firstly this week Barney went off to a new home after a rough time of it over the last couple of months. Having been parted from his owner and not quite fitting into a new home, Barney was in need of a new forever home. We are delighted Barney has found a new home where he can relax and feel settled and safe again.

Barney

Sally (Gracie) the Border Collie x Bearded Collie starts a new life this week. She joins a family including two other dogs which will be great for this super friendly girl. Sally came into kennels very nervous and aloof of people having been found stray rounding up sheep, but she has slowly started to learn to trust and having started to build up her confidence she is ready for the next step in her life. Good luck Sally.

Sally (Gracie)

Little Patches found a new home in quick time just recently. This little Jack Russel Terrier had a tough few days before being signed over to HWAR but he is now settled in a new home and is a happy little boy.

Patches

A recent hand in that was re-homed quickly was Fred the Basset Fauve de Bretagne. Fred's owner passed away recently and the family took the difficult decision to re-home Fred. He has joined a new family where he struck up a strong bond with the family already and is a happy boy in his new home.

Fred

Darcy a chocolate Labrador came in as part of a four strong crew along with Scooby, Ellie and Lola and she has now moved into a lifetime foster home. Never easy to break up a group of dogs but Darcy has happily settled into a new environment and is just hoping now her other pals Scooby and Lola can find new homes now.

In and out very quickly recently was a seven year old black Labrador called Mika. Mika was in and out so quickly we barely had time to get a snap! A steady lad with a nice nature he has great times ahead of him now.

Dogs In & Looking For Homes

A lovely young pair that have come into HWAR recently is Nim and Isco, brother and sister Labrador x Husky's just 12 months old. Nim has been reserved after meeting a new family and Isco looks to have a home lined up already also so great news for them both to find homes so quickly. Lovely young dogs with nice natures they have a nice future ahead of them.

Isco

Two dogs specially in need of a home at the moment are Scooby and Lola. Many of you will know Jenny and Liam, two of our charities trustees. Tragically a few weeks ago Jenny suffered a major stroke and she and Liam have had to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome some of the dogs.

Scooby (Lurcher) and Lola (American Bulldog x Staffy) are now searching for a new home and are ready to leave kennels where they can enjoy being in a family again. They are both around 7 years old and will make a fantastic addition to any family. Please consider Scooby and Lola.

Though the kennels are quiet at the moment we still have some long stayers.

Buddy & Fabian in kennels are waiting patiently for someone to come and meet them and Charlie is still in foster having been with HWAR for nearly a year!

Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue Update 2nd - 9th September

The last two months have been very productive for re-homing, so productive we are delighted to say SHYLA has been reserved for a new home, she has been in kennels for 9 months, so hopefully everything goes well for her.

We should also take this chance to wish our kennel manager Annabelle a great day on the 10th of September as she walks down the aisle to become Mrs Mantle, have a wonderful day.

STOLEN DOG

This beautiful dog was stolen from Clehonger at appx midnight on 5th September. She was taken by 4 young men in a car. Another dog, a shi tzu was shortly afterwards stolen from Madley, thankfully that little dog has turned up safe and well this morning.

Please keep a look out for her. If you have any information as to the dogs whereabouts please contact us in strictest confidence, she just needs to be back with her rightful owner.

This has had over 1000 shares no Facebook and we are so grateful for your support, lets get her back to her owners!

Dogs Re-homed

First to leave Kennels since the last update was the happy go lucky Tilly, she went on to foster before quickly finding a new home, a gorgeous Staffy x JRT girl with a smile for everyone and a real sweetheart.

Tilly

Lucy was not waiting long for a new home, this gorgeous Collie girl is bright as a button with bags of potential. She has gone off to a Collie experienced owner who will help her reach her potential, there she will also have a new best friend sharing a home with a male Collie whom she was quick to make friends with!

Lucy

Betty the Beagle is a steady older girl and she was just after somewhere to relax and where she could potter around at her own pace. We are delighted she has found a new home to call her own so quickly where she can take it easy.

Betty

You may re-call the handsome young Dalmatian Baxter who was needing a new home, he never went through kennels but through re-home from home, he has now found a new home.

Baxter

Beau, an 18 week old Collie x was not waiting a long time in foster till he made it into his new home. He has quickly settled in and has a wonderful life ahead of him.

Beau

If you have been following our social media you will have come across a young pale fawn Collie x who had been handed in by a Simon Jones to a local veterinary practice. This man has been notorious for claiming dogs for free and trying to sell them, but mostly having to end up abandoning them. We are pleased to say he has quickly gone into a new home and after a traumatic couple of weeks for this boy he is safely into a new home. The matter of Simon Jones is now in the hands of Herefordshire Council and we will update more when we can.

New Intakes

Here are the dogs from the pound this week, the first is the lovely but nervous Collie x Jrt, Gracie

She was found in Lower Maescoed a couple of weeks back herding up sheep! After being taken in by a kindly stranger she tried rounding up the cats, the geese the chickens, you know name it she wanted to herd them! She is now at Meadowbank awaiting a new home but is desperate to be out putting her skills to good use.

Gracie

We also have had a little JRT come in called Patches. This little chap has had a very traumatic time over the past few days. Friday he was handed into a local vets as unwanted. Thankfully our friends at Happy Waggers were able to accommodate him over the weekend. He has gone straight into a foster home while he awaits a new home.

Sleeping on the desk!

Though the kennels are quiet at the moment we still have some long stayers. Buddy & Fabian in kennels are waiting patiently for someone to come and meet them and Charlie is still in foster having been with HWAR for nearly a year!

Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue Weekly Update 26th August - 2nd September

It has been all go in recent months at HWAR and we have had another busy re-homing week, which is great news for the dogs. We have great gratitude to all the support we receive whether it be through adoptions & fostering, people’s time, donations, visiting our shops, social media interactions, word of mouth etc. It all makes a big contribution to helping us keep finding homes for the dogs in our care and continue to grow awareness, thank you.

Dogs going or have gone out

Dora the lovely young Collie girl went off to a new family last week. A bright active young girl she needed a new home that could keep up with her active personality and we are delighted to say she has found just that.

Bertha has left the building! She was reserved a couple of weeks ago and on Friday her new home was ready for her. Such a character she will be missed but we are so pleased that she has gone to a new home to call her own.

GREAT NEWS for little Rags. After coming in with his brother Roger, Rags has been looking for a home without Roger as we took the difficult decision to split them up. Sweet boys but neither dog was in a great state when they came in and in the end a fresh start for both dogs was needed. Rags was not waiting for long behind Roger and he started his new life on Saturday when he left Meadowbank.

The beautiful and gentle Lucky the Lurcher also went off to a new life on Saturday. Lucky was certainly a dog not keen on kennel life so naturally we are delighted he found home quickly where he can be part of a family.

Lastly, Molly a very shy but sweet Patterdale X Spaniel has quickly found a new home. A very nervy little girl but some TLC in foster has brought her on to be ready for a new home which is great news.

We should also mention we have had quite a lot of cats re-homed through us recently, firstly there was Sox, Coco also came through our books, as well as Hattie and the handsome Dexter.

Our premises is only equipped to accommodate dogs but we will always endeavour to help any animals in need.

New intakes

Firstly this week we have Lucy, a bright young Collie full of life. Lucy likes nothing more than to play ball and is a highly intelligent girl with lots of potential, the only thing she likes more than to play ball is roll over and have some fuss!

You may have seen Betty the Beagle on our Facebook recently, well now Betty has made it into our care. A very sweet and steady girl she has gone into foster as she waits a new home.

Beau was handed in recently, a young Collie X pup just 18 weeks old he finds himself looking for a new home through no fault of his own. His owners had just not allowed for the time and attention a young pup needs and now he is looking for a home to understand him. Beau is currently in foster and doing well.

If you are interested in any of the animals in our care please get in touch through hwar.animalrescue@gmail.com for more details.

Dogs gone into foster

Tilly has gone into a foster home this week and may well already have suitors for a new home, unfortunately for Buddy she performed a switcheroo with him as he was not quite getting on in his foster home and sadly for Buddy he is back in kennels.
